Vale aumenta gastos em infra-estrutura

São Paulo, 20 de Outubro de 2008 – A Cia Vale do Rio Doce aumentou o percentual de investimento destinado a projetos que não são exatamente o foco central de atuação, como infra-estrutura logística, energia, siderurgia e carvão. Do total de US$ 14,23 bilhões que estão previstos no orçamento do ano que vem – 29,4% mais que o projetado para 2008 – cerca de 35% são destinados a essas atividades.
Somente para logística foram previstos US$ 3,02 bilhões em 2009, 21,3% do total. No orçamento passado, a área recebeu 17% dos investimentos previstos, ou US$ 1,87 bilhão. A Vale ressaltou que do total para o próximo ano 55%, ou US$ 1,68 bilhão, serão para suportar o plano de expansão da capacidade de produção de minério de ferro, acima do US$ 1,15 bilhão previsto no ano anterior, 61% do total.
O volume de recursos destinado para o carvão mais que dobrou, para US$ 808 milhões, 5,7% do total orçado. Na previsão anterior, o mineral energético era de 3,5%. Já o aço consumirá US$ 357 milhões, 2,5%. No ano passado foram previstos US$ 81 milhões, 0,7% do total. Em energia serão aplicados US$ 822 milhões, 5,7% do total, bastante acima dos US$ 470 milhões previstos para 2008.
