Setor vai investir US$ 57 bi até 2012

Rio de Janeiro. O Instituto Brasileiro de Mineração (Ibram) revisou as estimativas de investimentos do setor de US$ 42 bilhões para US$ 57 bilhões até 2012. Na avaliação do presidente do instituto, Paulo Camillo, os números refletem a confiança na manutenção de um ciclo mais longo de alta das commodities metálicas, no qual a palavra de ordem continua sendo China. Distribuídos em uma lista de 48 projetos, o montante abriga tanto planos de expansão quanto novos negócios. O minério de ferro mantém de longe a liderança dos recursos, recebendo cerca de US$ 37 bilhões, ou 65% do total. Em seguida figura a exploração do níquel, que receberá outros US$ 6,2 bilhões nos próximos cinco anos. Vale. A empresa admitiu ontem a negociação de reajuste adicional no preço do minério de ferro com seus clientes na Ásia. A confirmação veio poucos dias após a companhia divulgar um comunicado considerado dúbio pelo mercado. No fato relevante, a empresa negava ter reajustado seus preços, mas deixava a porta aberta ao revelar manter “permanente diálogo com seus clientes”. Questionada mais uma vez pela Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), a mineradora confirmou a negociação de um adicional entre 11% e 11,5%. A justificativa foi a busca de convergência entre preços na Ásia e Europa.
