MINERAÇÃO: Felix, da Austrália, é o novo alvo

SÃO PAULO, 15 de agosto de 2008 – O presidente da Vale, Roger Agnelli, admitiu ontem que a empresa já fez estudos de avaliação sobre a empresa de mineração de carvão australiana Felix Resources. A publicação, em jornais internacionais, da informação de que a Vale estaria disputando a compra com a chinesa China Shenhua Energy Company fizeram as ações da Felix – uma mineradora de médio porte, no disputado mercado de carvão australiano – dispararem. Ontem, os papéis fecharam em alta de 18%, depois de terem registrado ganhos superiores a 20% na bolsa de valores de Sydney. “Já fizemos avaliações sobre essa empresa, não há nada engatilhado. Se tivermos que fazer uma proposta quando for a hora, apresentaremos. Isso depende dos vendedores”, afirmou Agnelli, durante a cerimônia de lançamento do terceiro módulo da Alunorte, em Barcarena.Em resposta a um pedido de esclarecimento pela bolsa australiana, diante da disparada no preço do papel, a Felix divulgou comunicado ontem informando que as conversas com as duas companhias são preliminares. A empresa disse que não tinha nada a acrescentar aos comunicados divulgados no mês passado, informando que havia recebido uma série de contatos. “Nesse momento, o interesse mostrado pelas partes continua preliminar, incompleto, não exclusivo e condicional”, disse a companhia. A mineradora acrescentou que não mudou sua estimativa anterior de lucro líquido entre US$ 214 milhões a US$ 223 milhões para o ano fiscal terminado em junho. O mercado australiano está na mira das grandes mineradoras e siderúrgicas. No início do mês, o grupo ArcelorMittal divulgou a aquisição de uma participação de 14,9% na empresa júnior australiana Macarthur Coal, por US$ 604 milhões. Segundo a Macarthur, outro grupo – que não foi identificado, mas que boatos diziam ser a Xstrata – também estava no páreo.(O Estado de S. Paulo)
