MINERAÇÃO: Empresas investirão em porto na Austrália

SÃO PAULO, 26 de novembro de 2008 – Um grupo de 16 companhias, entre elas as gigantes mineradoras BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Xstrata e Macarthur Coal, chegaram a um acordo para construir um terminal de carvão no porto de Gladstone, na Austrália. O projeto, que ainda depende de financiamento, deve movimentar A$ 4 bilhões (US$ 2,6 bilhões).
De acordo com autoridades locais, o projeto deve ser entregue em três etapas. Já na primeira, prevista para 2012, o porto de Gladstone, localizado no estado de Queensland, receberá uma capacidade adicional de 25 milhões de toneladas anuais. (Redação – InvestNews)
