Estanho em alta reativa mina

Considerada a maior área de extração de estanho a céu aberto do mundo na metade dos anos 90, a mina do Bom Futuro, em Rondônia, quase desapareceu na virada da década. Na época, a Paranapanema, que liderava um consórcio de empresas na extração do minério, desistiu da mina por conta do baixo preço do estanho e da produção em decadência. Desde então, a mina é controlada por um grupo de sete famílias de garimpeiros e empresários que acreditavam ainda haver minério por lá.Agora, com a tonelada do estanho a US$ 25 mil, o futuro da mina, localizada na cidade de Ariquemes, parece não ser tão ruim quanto previa a Paranapanema. Neste ano, devem ser retiradas três mil toneladas de estanho de lá, o que vai render cerca de R$ 100 milhões às sete famílias. Com a produção e o preço em alta, se preparam para construir sua própria fundição e exportar o minério beneficiado para a Ásia.
