Só no ano passado, o minério valorizou-se em 78% no Brasil. O cobre, por sua vez, teve seu preço elevado em mais de cinco vezes de 2001 para cá no mercado internacional. Com o urânio, neste mesmo intervalo, o salto foi ainda mais acentuado: o valor do mineral hoje é mais que 15 vezes o cobrado em 2001. O motivo já é fartamente comentado: o crescimento acelerado de países como a China e a Índia, elevando a demanda. ´A subida se dá rapidamente e atinge níveis que não são normais´, comenta. Se os preços continuarão nesta escalada desenfreada, a expectativa do executivo é de que não. ´Depois, a tendência é a acomodação a patamares mais razoáveis. Isso é o que deve ocorrer com o níquel, zinco e urânio´.E isso já vem acontecendo. O urânio, depois de ser vendido a US$ 5 a libra peso (Lb) em 2001, chegou ao pico de US$ 110/Lb em 2007, mas, este ano, caiu para US$ 78/Lb, de acordo com a Ux Consulting.Já para o ferro, cobre e alumínio, por exemplo, ele acredita que os preços continuarão crescendo, ´mas sem subidas tão espetaculares´. O motivo para isso é que estes são matérias-primas de uso crescente na construção naval e civil, na indústria automobilística, no cabeamento e energia elétrica.Em 2001, o ferro era comercializado a US$ 27,6 a tonelada seca longa, segundo a EconStats. O ano de 2008, pela previsão desta fonte, deverá fechar com o produto sendo vendido a US$ 137,1 a mesma medida, alta de quase 500%.Elevação semelhante, durante esse período, é esperada para o cobre, passando de US$ 1.500 por tonelada para US$ 8.100/ton, com preços da London Metal Exchange (LME).O ouro, que volta a ser pesquisado no Ceará, não deverá sofrer redução nos preços, a tendência é continuar subindo, prevê o Ibram. Em 2001, como aponta o London Bullion Market (LBMA), a onça era comercializada por US$ 272, pulando para US$ 887 em 2008, mais que o triplo do valor anterior.Fatores de impulsoDe acordo com Tunes, a mineração no Brasil tem dois fatores que garantem a estabilidade no seu crescimento. ´O primeiro é que o mercado interno está crescendo bastante, tem as obras do PAC, tem mais renda. Isso demanda recursos minerais em estradas, ferrovias, hidrelétricas, pontes, construção civil. E, para isso, precisa de areia, brita, ferro, aço, alumínio, calcário´, justifica. O outro fator é a diversificação dos destinos da exportação mineral brasileira.
