Tractebel Energia investirá R$ 800 mil em pesquisas com carvão em SC

Convênio com associação catarinense visa levantar dados e parâmetros operacionais e de projeto das caldeiras do Complexo Termelétrico Jorge Lacerda Da Agência CanalEnergia, PeD 27/08/2008 A Tractebel Energia assinou, na semana passada, convênio com a Associação Beneficente da Indústria Carbonífera de Santa Catarina (Satc), para a realização de um projeto de pesquisa com carvão. O acordo prevê investimentos de cerca de R$ 800 mil, nos próximos dois anos, visando levantar dados e parâmetros operacionais e de projeto das caldeiras existentes no Complexo Termelétrico Jorge Lacerda (SC, 857 MW). O objetivo da parceria é a cooperação técnica entre as instituições, para a realização de pesquisas na área de geração de energia elétrica, para a execução do projeto “Avaliação Tecnológica para Emprego do Carvão Mineral da Camada Bonito nas Usinas do Complexo Termelétrico Jorge Lacerda”. Segundo o diretor de Produção de Energia da Tractebel Energia, José Carlos Cauduro Minuzzo, a parceria prevê a pesquisa e identificação de tecnologias disponíveis no mercado global em relação à queima do carvão pulverizado, com características semelhantes às da camada de Bonito, na região carbonífera no sul catarinense. Além disso, serão feitas análises do teor de cinza e enxofre das amostras coletadas a fim de atender às questões ambientais exigidas pelas leis vigentes. O executivo explicou que, na camada Bonito, estão localizadas as reservas com maior potencial de exploração de carvão mineral, cerca de 50% maior do que o da camada Barro Branco, atualmente mais utilizada, apesar de estar em declínio. Minuzzo ressaltou que o setor mineral contribui para o fornecimento do carvão mineral para as unidades da empresa que geram vapor e energia. Além disso, o executivo afirmou que a região possui uma riqueza a ser explorada. “É necessário conhecer melhor o potencial carbonífero da região, caracterizando o combustível que temos para o futuro, além de poder especializar pesquisas e desenvolvimento técnico neste tipo de combustível”, disse. Outro objetivo do convênio é estabelecer as modificações tecnológicas necessárias às usinas do complexo e no processo de beneficiamento do carvão mineral da região para aproveitamento desse insumo em larga escala em médio e longo prazos. A parceria integra o programa de pesquisa e desenvolvimento da companhia, que aplica cerca de R$ 15 milhões por ano.
