Projeto carboquímico tenta atrair investidores ao RS

Complexo industrial poderá gerar mais de 2 mil empregosNo Rio Grande do Sul estão 90% das reservas nacionais de carvão. Para um melhor aproveitamento deste mineral abundante em solo gaúcho e a implantação de um complexo voltado ao seu uso para os segmentos de energia e carboquímico, a Federação das Indústrias do Rio Grande do Sul (Fiergs), o Sindicato Nacional da Indústria de Extração de Carvão (Sniec) e o governo do Estado assinaram, nesta quarta-feira (14), um termo de cooperação técnica para o projeto do Complexo Integrado Carboquímico do Rio Grande do Sul.Participaram o presidente da Fiergs, Heitor José Müller; o secretário de Minas e Energia, Lucas Redecker; o secretário do Desenvolvimento Econômico, Ciência e Tecnologia, Fábio Branco; e o presidente do Sniec, César; Weinschenck de Faria. ?Precisamos dar importância ao projeto. Há o interesse de investidores, inclusive estrangeiros, na área do carvão mineral no Estado?, declarou Müller. Até fevereiro de 2017, a íntegra do estudo deve ser apresentada, dando oportunidade para que os empresários interessados na cadeia produtiva carboquímica iniciem as estratégias de negócios. ?O Rio Grande do Sul tem de se posicionar a favor do carvão. Precisamos atrair interessados para que tenham segurança de investir aqui?, comentou Redecker. O carvão mineral é responsável apenas por 3,5% da atual matriz energética do país. Mas as opções por sua utilização vão além das usinas termelétricas e da produção de energia. Pode ser usado também como alternativa na produção química em substituição a produtos advindos do petróleo. Esta aplicação é a mais sustentável para o uso do carvão, pois ao invés de gerar CO2, o carbono e o enxofre entram como matéria-prima para a produção de fertilizantes, gás natural e metanol, por exemplo. Informações técnicas previamente já verificadas em estudos do Sniec revelam que os investimentos para a implantação do complexo industrial carboquímico podem chegar a US$ 5 bilhões, contemplando tanto a geração de energia quanto os componentes para atividades químicas. Outra perspectiva importante para a economia do Estado é que o complexo pode gerar mais de 2 mil empregos diretos na operação por mais de 30 anos.
