Vale investiu US$ 1 bilhão no Pará no 1T09

A Vale investiu(*) US$ 1,073 bilhão no Pará no 1T09, um aumento de 9% em relação aos US$ 980 milhões investidos no 1T08. No primeiro trimestre deste ano, a empresa desembolsou US$ 30,4 milhões em projetos socioambientais. Comparando o primeiro trimestre de 2009 com o de 2008, a empresa teve um saldo positivo de contratações de 1.200 empregados próprios, o que representa um aumento de 13% no quadro de pessoal. Em função dos diversos investimentos que a Vale mantém no Pará, a mineradora está gerando cerca de 17.000 empregos em canteiros de obras dos seguintes projetos em andamento: implantação do projeto Salobo de concentrado de cobre, aumento da capacidade das minas de Carajás em 30 milhões de toneladas e capacitação das ferrovias para o transporte do Adicional 30Mta.
;Investimentos sociais
;Na área social, os investimentos da empresa neste trimestre foram destinados para projetos em educação, trânsito, agricultura familiar e pesquisas, entre outros. Em Parauapebas, a Vale investiu no 1T09 US$ 54,1 mil no Programa de Educação Patrimonial, desenvolvido na área do Projeto Salobo em parceria com o Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi e a Fundação Instituto para o Desenvolvimento da Amazônia (Fidesa). Entre as diversas ações foi produzido um documentário educativo com a apresentação dos principais resultados obtidos no programa, desde o trabalho arqueológico até as oficinas sobre cultura indígena, técnicas de produção fotográfica e de percepção cultural, desenho e pintura e produção de artesanato em cerâmica. O Programa é desenvolvido desde 2005 e já atendeu mais de 100 pessoas no município, incluindo as vilas Paulo Fonteles e Sanção.
Para o Projeto 100 foram destinados US$ 74,9 mil para a manutenção do atendimento educacional de crianças e adolescentes do município. Desenvolvido desde fevereiro de 2000, o projeto viabiliza bolsas integrais a 100 alunos de baixa renda, incluindo material de uso coletivo e individual, uniformes, transporte, alimentação e reforço escolar, benefícios estes que se estendem até a conclusão do ensino médio, garantindo a educação de qualidade.
Em Ourilândia do Norte e Tucumã, a parceria da Vale com o Departamento de Trânsito do Estado do Pará (Detran-PA) e as secretarias de educação dos dois municípios certificou 35 professores da rede pública de ensino no curso de capacitação básica em educação para o trânsito, uma iniciativa pioneira no Brasil. No primeiro trimestre o investimento foi de US$ 18,1 mil na preparação dos professores, que passam a ser multiplicadores dos conceitos para um trânsito mais seguro e cidadão. Os professores irão ministrar a disciplina “Educação para o trânsito”, já incluída no calendário escolar de 2009, onde serão repassadas orientações de como agir de maneira correta, mesclando teoria com ações práticas.
Em Moju, o destaque foi a conclusão do estudo socioeconômico que mapeou as potencialidades produtivas de 14 comunidades que integram o Território Quilombola do Jambuaçu. Com base no estudo foi possível elaborar um conjunto de projetos voltados para a agricultura familiar, pecuária e sistemas agroflorestais, com consórcios de frutíferas e leguminosas para o território. Com isso, espera-se que as 400 famílias da região possam gerar renda e melhorar sua qualidade de vida. Desenvolvido em oito meses, o estudo encomendado à Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA) teve um investimento de aproximadamente US$ 389,4 mil.
A Vale também promoveu um estudo com o objetivo de conhecer a influência de suas atividades sobre os municípios e comunidades vizinhas à;Mineração;Rio do Norte (MRN). Em Terra Santa e Oriximiná, foi feito um levantamento do contexto socioeconômico e ocupacional da região do entorno da empresa. Em todo o projeto foram investidos US$ 76,9 mil, com o objetivo de mapear a real condição de vida da comunidade, tal como o nível socioeconômico, a faixa etária, o nível escolar, a população economicamente ativa, a renda familiar, os acessos a serviços básicos como água, energia e saúde e a caracterização de domicílios. Os resultados da pesquisa servirão de subsídio para melhor direcionar as ações e projetos de responsabilidade social da MRN, tendo sempre como objetivo a melhoria da qualidade de vida da população local.
