Experts debate TSM during Arminera

The CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), Raul Jungmann, participated in the panel “Program for sustainable mining (HMS-TSM): international application and state of progress in Argentina” held this Monday, 5/22, at Arminera 2023, International Mineral Industry Fair, in Buenos Aires. The panel included a lecture by the CEO of the Mining Association of Canada, Pierre Gratton, and representatives from Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia and Argentina.
Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) is a program developed by the Mining Association of Canada/Mining Association of Canada (MAC). It guides and supports mining companies in managing environmental and social risks.
“There is no place in the future for economic activities that do not prioritize sustainability. It is a question of moral responsibility towards the next generations, a commitment that we have to assume and fulfill. TSM is a very effective response to social and environmental issues,” said Raul Jungmann.
Another highlight of the Program, according to Jungmann, is that the method was developed by miners for miners, which explains how it is aligned with the language of the mineral sector. “This is essential, it is a differentiator. TSM also has global growth as a metric, which makes it unbeatable”, he assesses.
