2022 Mining Municipalities Award reveals successful cases in municipal management
10/06/22
Having sustainable mining activity in the territory is an excellent stimulus for carrying out public projects that improve the quality of life of the population. This is what was proven once again this week, when successful cases in municipal management were disclosed throughout Brazil in the auditorium of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), in Brasília.
12 municipalities registered their positive experiences to participate in the 2022 Mining Municipalities Award. In the end, the winners were revealed in 8 categories: health, education, social protection, environment, infrastructure, public finance, economic development and management.
These awarded cases, in the view of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), serve as examples to be followed by other mining municipalities, with mining companies as their partners in socioeconomic development.
This 1st edition of the 2022 Mining Municipalities Award was organized by IBRAM and Public Agenda, with the idealization and support of the MME.
The award ceremony took place in the MME auditorium, last Tuesday (7/6), and was attended by several players from the mineral sector and the federal government, including the CEO of IBRAM, Raul Jungmann, the ministers of the MME, Adolfo Sachsida, and of the Environment, Joaquim Leite, the holder of the Secretary of Geology, Mining and Mineral Transformation of the MME, Pedro Paulo Dias Mesquita, the director of the Public Agenda, Sergio Andrade, in addition to the representative of the evaluation committee, Maria Amelia Sanches.
There were 24 finalist practices, evaluated by the Public Agenda, based on a database with 40 indicators. The performances of 200 municipalities with the greatest presence of mining throughout Brazil were compared. The finalists were also validated by the selection committee, made up of specialists in public policies, to reach the 8 awards, one for each category of public policy. The main objective of the project was to recognize management actions in categories that demonstrate good performance, quality of public services and well-being of the population.
