While working forIBRAM, I took part in a big event, which was organized in the framework of the UK-Brazil Year of Science and Innovation`s programme 2018/2019 (AnoBrasil-ReinoUnido de Ciênciae Inovação2018/19).

This programme is a joint initiative led by the UK and Brazilian governments, which organizes various scientific and business events in both countries. Two of them were held in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais, Brazil) onthe 8th of November.

The first one, «Women in Mining », was dedicated to women, working in the mining industry. For example, you could find out more about the «Women in mining UK Association» and about thoseopportunities, which the members of the Association have.

Patrícia Silva, the representative of KPMG, spoke about women’s desire for being independent and about their willing to occupy leading positions in companies and enterprises. Also, she told us about the difficulties, which women may face during their work, so it`s important to know how to deal with these problems (O caminho para a liderança feminina). The most interesting part was the discussion of women, who workin the mining sector. These women have built a successful career, while they were taking care of the family. The stories were really motivating!

After the coffee break, I visited the II UK-Brazil Mining Forum, where the representatives of the major mining companies participated in the panel discussion and answered some participants`questions.

To be honest, I really liked, that the events were organized qualitatively. All small details were taken into account because the organizers wanted to make all speakers and participants feel comfortable. That fact made me happy as well! The day passed quickly, but very interesting. Such a feeling, when you can meet people, working for the well-known industrial companies, and speak with themin an informal way is priceless. That day was especially useful for mebecause I found out more about organizing public events abroad.As a future PR-specialist,I can use my knowledge and new experience in practice now!
