The Chargé d’Affaires and official representative of the United States Embassy in Brazil, Gabriel Escobar, met on Wednesday (July 23) with the CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), Raul Jungmann, and the Vice President, Fernando Azevedo, at IBRAM’s headquarters in Brasília.
The meeting, requested by the U.S. representative, focused on the trade mission of mining companies operating in Brazil to the U.S. market and on the United States’ interest in potential agreements with the Brazilian mineral sector, particularly concerning critical and strategic minerals.
According to Gabriel Escobar, a visit by Brazilian mining entrepreneurs to their American counterparts would be more effective in September or October, as August is a vacation month in the United States.
The U.S. Embassy’s official representative expressed interest in the National Policy on Critical and Strategic Minerals currently being developed by the Brazilian government, as well as in related legislative initiatives.
IBRAM’s leadership informed him that the topics discussed will be shared with the sector for further deliberation and potential follow-up on the conversation initiated during the meeting.
