IBRAM announces the winners of the Best Practices in Mining in Brazil 2022 Award

The Brazilian Institute of Mining (IBRAM) revealed this Tuesday, 22nd, at its office in Belo Horizonte (MG) the big winners of the Good Practices in Mining in Brazil 2022 Award. to promote people’s safety and quality of life, as well as the continuous improvement of industrial processes.
With 40 cases enrolled, the three best cases in each of the five award categories were selected. During the event, the finalists presented their projects and, after an analysis by the organizing committee, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the respective categories were defined.
For IBRAM’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, Julio Nery, the choice of category and winners is symbolic. “We thank all the participants for their effort in bringing the case and, mainly, for the work that professionals in the area carry out on a daily basis. The statistics of accidents in the sector have been improving over time. Everyone already knows that it is possible to reduce the number of accidents to zero. accidents, which already happens with many companies participating in this award. We have to take this culture to the rest of the sector. This is fundamental for us to evolve in this issue of occupational health and safety”, he evaluated.
The Director of People at Mineração J.Mendes, Marcelo Henrique Oliveira, highlighted the importance of exchanging experience and information between companies in the sector. “Today we had a real lesson in governance. In the past, mining companies treated safety within their limits. We reached a maturity that allows us to bring the best to the market. In operational safety, we are partners, there is no competition. Congratulations to everyone who They were here with active listening so that we can manage security even better”, he highlighted.
This is the 5th edition of the 2022 Good Practices in Mining Award in Brazil. IBRAM’s Health and Safety coordinator, Cláudia Pellegrinelli, highlighted the importance of the award and the work that is developed in mining. “We are a force, a family, a union. We have evolved health and operational safety work. And the quality of the cases received shows that we are on the right path”, he evaluates.
“These cases serve as an example of what to do or not to do when talking about operational health and safety in mining. If a company says it is successful without worrying about health and safety, that is not success. Health and safety are part of excellence of operations and should be treated as a company value”, emphasized BHP’s Operational Excellence manager, Daniele Morais.
