Official figures for EXPOSIBRAM 2022 reflect the success of the event held in the capital of Minas Gerais. Updated number of participants in 4 days exceeded 61 thousand people.
Over four days, more than 61,000 people visited EXPOSIBRAM 2022, at Expominas, in Belo Horizonte/MG, where two thousand congressmen gathered – the highest number of all editions -, and around 450 exhibitors. The numbers help translate a little of what the event was like, which ended this Thursday (9/15).
By 3 pm on the last day, the organization had registered 52,000 participants. At the end of the event, the total was updated to more than 61 thousand people, another historical record.
During the closing ceremony, the CEO of the Brazilian Institute of Mining (IBRAM), Raul Jungmann, said that EXPOSIBRAM 2022, by returning to the face-to-face format, was characterized by being a celebration of sustainability and diversity. “In these four days of the event, it was possible to see how much the mineral sector seeks and invests in transformation, in sustainable and diverse development. The covid has pushed us away, taking many lives, including close friends and family. How much suffering, how much inconvenience, we are left without the joy of meeting each other. Nothing replaces human warmth”, he said.
Still in his speech, Jungmann thanked the sponsors and everyone who participated in EXPOSIBRAM 2022, including visitors, speakers and representatives of companies and bodies linked to the mining sector. He also highlighted the participation (online and via video) of the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, and the Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida.
Brumadinho
Despite the relaxed tone of the ceremony, Raul Jungmann made a point of remembering the sadness over the tragedy in Brumadinho, citing that he had a meeting with members of the Association of Relatives of Victims and Affected by the Breaking of the Dam in Brumadinho (AVABRUM). “I hugged them because there was nothing to talk about. We will never feel the pain they feel. The past cannot be changed, but it can be alleviated. We will continue to do whatever it takes to alleviate this suffering and that what happened in Brumadinho never happen again”, he said, moved.
female representativeness
Raul Jungmann also honored the Women in Mining Brasil movement at the ceremony, calling the stage and inviting President Patrícia Procópio to speak. The organization aims to expand and strengthen the participation of women in the mining sector.
environmental issue
Issues related to the environment were addressed in virtually all events that took place at EXPOSIBRAM 2022. There were many debates related to ESG – an acronym for Environmental Social Governance (environmental, social and corporate governance). This concept is one of the most modern ones aimed at business management and serves to enable companies to carry out a balanced administration with social and environmental interests. “If an E.T. showed up here during those four days, I’d think I was at an environmentalist conference,” joked Jungmann. “This shows how much all of us in the mining sector are concerned and committed to environmental issues. It is our obligation to guarantee the future of the next generations, there would be nothing more shameful if we do not do our best to leave our children and grandchildren a better world than what we get,” he added.
