EXPOSIBRAM 2023 raises R$1.5 billion in business rounds for suppliers in the mineral sector
01/09/23
The 22 mining companies that participated in the Expo & Brazilian Mining Congress Business Roundtable (EXPOSIBRAM 2023) generated expected business worth R$1.5 billion. Considered the biggest Brazilian mining event, EXPOSIBRAM began on Monday night (28) and came to an end this Thursday (31), in Belém, at Hangar – Centro de Convenções e Feiras da Amazônia.
This balance reveals the strong interest of suppliers and mining companies in establishing partnerships. In the Business Roundtable, held over two days, the participating mining companies were able to learn more about the work, products and services of suppliers and, mainly, innovations. In addition to in-person rounds, the space featured virtual rounds involving 53 buyers and more than 200 registered and selected suppliers.
“We signed up, understood the scope and saw how fantastic it is. Not only for us, who have been in the market for 13 years, but also for smaller companies. We had the opportunity to talk to a company that we focused a lot on and hadn’t had the chance to do and we were invited to the Business Roundtable by them. That reunion that has been awaited for over 10 years has finally come to an end, you know? It happened!”, says, enthusiastically, Paula Santiago, partner at Prev Fire, a company that works with prevention and emergency care.
Develop new suppliers for innovative solutions. This was the focus of the work of Leonardo Reche, buyer representing the mining company Alcoa at the Business Roundtable. Accustomed to the annual business round model to attract local suppliers, through a partnership between Sebrae and the mining company’s purchasing department, Leonardo states that the event model resulted in a more robust number of suppliers and this was a differentiator. “EXPOSIBRAM, as it is an international event, gives us access to larger suppliers, without neglecting our local operations as well”, he noted.
The business round routine installed at Alcoa, highlighted by Leonardo, reveals the success of this model implemented at EXPOSIBRAM. “The Business Roundtable is part of our routine every year. We are looking for local suppliers who can serve the company on a regional basis and we want to open our range to more suppliers from the North/Northeast for our Juruti and Maranhão units”, he warned.
Interactions
Based in Jundiaí (SP), Siemens participated in the Business Roundtable and was enchanted by the event in Belém. “We thought there wouldn’t be so many interactions and people from the sector. For us, it was a pleasant surprise that the mining community gave due importance to EXPOSIBRAM here in Belém”.
Selling solutions for the mining industrial area is the focus of the company that came to the business round with electrocenters (electrification, automation and digitalization). Siemens had complete experience in programming the round, with virtual and in-person meetings.
Very productive
“It has been very productive. We took advantage of this face-to-face moment to talk to companies about Pará, what the local reality and challenges are like and the importance of having a base in the state”, pointed out Hydro’s purchasing manager, Kleber Vallim.
From now on, suppliers participating in the Round will have the opportunity to be seen by companies in the mineral sector from any part of the country. A search that appears to have been purposeful due to the opportunities, according to Keber Vallim. “One thing I heard a lot was about the quality of the fair, which was very well structured and another is that everyone is eager to expand their operations and businesses. There is a need to adjust the business, of course, for logistical reasons, but there is a desire to expand market share (market share, in free translation) due to the power of mining here in the State”, he assessed.
Vale, a mining company that has a strong presence in Pará and other locations, was present during the two days of the Business Roundtable at EXPOSIBRAM. The company sought opportunities and also strengthened its ties in the mineral production chain. In total, 12 supplier companies were pre-registered to work with Vale, which demonstrated the magnitude and importance of the initiative.
Winning booths
The three best stands at the fair were also awarded prizes, according to criteria that took into account whether the exhibitor complied with all the organization’s rules from the day of assembly and whether they actively contributed to the understanding of activities involved in mining. Furthermore, to be awarded, the exhibitor must have used recyclable materials in the construction of the stand and ensured accessibility.
The best stands were chosen in a vote by the public (ENAEX), the exhibitors themselves (Cidade Limpa Ambiental) and the organization (Vale and MRN – tie).
Participations
The exhibition area for the 2023 edition totaled 3,500 m² square meters, distributed in stands of national and foreign companies, a showcase with mining products and services. The Congress had 1,707 congressmen, including experts, researchers, students and company representatives, and 150 panelists distributed across 33 panels. The event welcomed 21,650 people over the four days.
Those who attended the event approved. This is the case of businesswoman and economist Elizabete Grunvald, a regular participant at the event. “The program was wonderful and well structured, highlighting the entire representation of the sector. Everything is very dynamic and with excellent stands”, he assessed.
Jungmann: EXPOSIBRAM in Pará is rewarding
For Raul Jungmann, CEO of IBRAM, “holding EXPOSIBRAM in Pará is always gratifying, as the Amazon region attracts attention from all over the world. The event was a success, not only because of the statistics, but, above all, because of the interactions between those who participated in the international business fair and the Brazilian Mining Congress”, he said.
According to him, both IBRAM and its partners and companies were eager to hold the event and be able to establish businesses, present new projects, hire services, purchase machines and equipment and learn about technological innovations already in use and those being prepared for launch in the Marketplace.
