29/04/24
The Sustainability director of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), Julio Nery, and the Research and Development manager, Cinthia Rodrigues, visited, last Thursday, the 25th, the Geosciences Institute of the University of São Paulo (USP). The objective was to learn about the laboratories and equipment for lead isotopic analysis.
The laboratory is developing a study to construct samples for the Federal Police’s gold profile bank, which aims to trace gold. “These lead isotopic analyzes help in mapping the gold profile. It is yet another advance in traceability and in the fight against illegality in the sale of gold”, said Júlio Nery.
IBRAM representatives were received by Professor Colombo Tassinari, Coordinator of the High Resolution Geochronology Laboratory (GEOLAB/USP), Professor Veridiana Martins and USP post-doctoral student Fabio Salvador, who is also a representative of the Federal Police, and the Ouro Alvo Project.
