IBRAM note on US tariffs
29/07/25
A preliminary analysis by the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), based on the document released this Wednesday (30) by the United States government, indicates that of the 1.53 billion dollars — an amount representing 4% of Brazilian mineral exports to the U.S. market — approximately 75% are included in the exceptions provided by the decree. As a result, 25% of exports will be impacted. Minerals such as kaolin, copper, manganese, vanadium, bauxite, and some ornamental stones and rocks were not included in the exemptions.
IBRAM continues to analyze the details of the decree to fully understand its impacts and reaffirms its commitment to work toward having all Brazilian minerals excluded from the new surcharge.
