On October 30–31, Salvador (Bahia) will host the 3rd edition of the International Conference on the Amazon and New Economies, organized by the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), with support from Concertação pela Amazônia, the Brazilian Association for Business Communication (Aberje), and the Arapyaú Institute. After two editions held in Belém (Pará), the Conference will take place for the first time in the Bahian capital, aiming to expand dialogue on the strategic role of the Amazon in building a more sustainable future for Brazil and the world. The event is Master Sponsored by Vale.
Established as one of the main forums on the region, the international gathering will bring together experts, business leaders, government representatives, Indigenous peoples, researchers, and civil society members. This year’s edition seeks to advance the development of a structural action agenda focused on environmental preservation, climate justice, and the growth of new economies. The conference will take place at the Centro de Convenções Salvador, the same venue that will host the 2025 edition of the Brazilian Mining Expo & Congress (EXPOSIBRAM). It will also serve as a strategic lead-up to COP30, scheduled for 2025 in Belém (PA), reinforcing the Amazon’s leading role in global climate and sustainability discussions.
According to IBRAM, the Amazon is essential to the planet’s climate balance, and addressing the region’s challenges requires joint efforts among the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society.
“Promoting the Amazon’s socioeconomic development while ensuring environmental preservation is a major challenge. This international event offers a valuable opportunity to bring leaders together around solutions that drive sustainable growth and ensure the conservation of a biome that is vital to the planet’s future,” said IBRAM’s CEO, Raul Jungmann.
Key topics include climate change, just energy transition, bioeconomy, sustainable innovation, territorial governance, and the leadership of forest peoples. The Conference will also serve as a strategic platform for fostering public policy and encouraging sustainable businesses that respect the region’s social, cultural, and environmental specificities.
With this initiative, IBRAM reaffirms its commitment to leading actions that promote sustainability and responsible development in the Amazon, encouraging a new economic model that unites environmental conservation with the well-being of local populations.
The event is invitation-only, but those interested may express their interest and request registration, subject to approval.
